My longest-ever relationship lasted 10 months. It probably should have been over in two, but because he lived in Charleston, SC, and I in Ohio, and because I was working as a Sky Girl at the time, I managed to hang in there another couple rounds.
A nice boy; a truly lovely city.
Oh Savannah
You opened your arms to me
Thank you for teaching what it is to love
I was so young,
I didn't know just where I should be
But you took me in
And I knew I was home
I came here for my heart
Left it all on a lark
He didn't hit the mark
But I fell for you
'Cause boys they will come and go
Friends leave you when you're low
But with you I always know
That you'll be true
Feeling your warm sunligh
Loving your sultry nights
With you the world is right
And will always be
We got stories to share
My Southern lady fair
Oh, what a perfect pair
You and me
Oh Savannah
You opened your arms to me
Thank you for teaching what it is to love
I was so young,
I didn't know just where I should be
But you took me in
And I knew I was home
You have seen lives go by
Watched 'em drink rivers dry
Yet never satisfied
With all that they had
I could die here in peace
Walking your hallowed streets
But you will always greet me
With a new day
Oh Savannah
You opened your arms to me
Thank you for teaching what it is to love
I was so young,
I didn't know just where I should be
But you took me in
And I knew I was home
